Bradwell Celebrates New Space To Grow Playground with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

On Monday, November 17th, Bradwell School of Excellence proudly held its official ribbon cutting ceremony for our new Space to Grow playground. Principal Neal and Alderman Greg Mitchell delivered inspiring remarks, highlighting the importance of creating healthy, beautiful spaces for students and the community.

Student Council President Darryl Jeter also addressed the crowd, sharing what the new playground means for Bradwell students. Representatives from Chicago Public Schools, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, the Chicago Department of Water Management, the Chicago Department of Environment, Healthy Schools Campaign, and Openlands shared in the celebration and reflected on their roles in bringing the project to life.

The program featured a heartfelt original poem by 8th grader Armani West and a song selection performed by the 6th grade homerooms under the direction of Ms. Reardon.

The ribbon cutting marked an exciting new chapter for Bradwell—a vibrant schoolyard that will support play, learning, and community pride for years to come.
